Hello. I’m Juan.
I build one-of-a-kind furniture for people who can’t find what they need in a store. Not because they’re picky — but because what they want doesn’t exist yet.
My mission is to design and craft furniture that solves a real need, scratches a particular itch, and turns that missing thing in your home into something unforgettable.
A Life of Making
Throughout my life, I’ve had the privilege of embracing a wide variety of professional roles — each one focused on helping others learn, grow, and thrive. I’ve taught mathematics and literature at universities, guided students in fitness and movement, coached clients in nutrition and life skills, worked as an archivist and programmer, and even served as a waiter and photographer.
These rich experiences deepened my understanding of people and sharpened my instinct for what makes a space feel alive. That’s what led me to building furniture — the intersection of craft, design, and human connection.
At Aliso Woodworks, I combine open spaces with beautifully crafted wooden forms to create pieces that let you express your style and taste in both function and form. Whether it’s a sleek bookshelf, a cozy reading nook, or a custom dining table — my goal is to transform raw materials into objects that enhance your connection with your living space.
Three Principles
Every piece begins with a real need. I don’t build to fill inventory — I build to solve a specific problem in a specific space for a specific person.
Wood has grain, character, and history. I work with the material, not against it. The beauty of the final piece comes from respecting what’s already there.
Through work and perseverance. There are no shortcuts to quality. Every joint, every surface, every detail gets the time and attention it deserves.
Salt Lake City, Utah
Based in Salt Lake City, the Aliso workshop is where ideas become physical. Equipped for both traditional hand-tool work and CNC precision, it’s a space built for one thing: making furniture that matters.
Every commission starts with a conversation and ends with a piece that’s built to last generations.
Your space deserves better
Have an idea? A rough sketch on a napkin? A room that needs saving? Tell me about it. Every great piece starts with a conversation.
